SCARLET & GOLD
The premiere KaHS choral ensemble. This choir usually consists of upper classmen that have been trained in choral music for the past few years. Students must successfully audition for this class. Objective is to master some of the best and most challenging choral music. This choir gives a number of performances throughout the year in addition to the winter and spring concerts. Kamiakin High School has an impressive 40 year tradition of excellence in choral and vocal music. The 14-voice Chamber Choir is chosen from the 2000 student campus and represents its finest singers.
The Chamber Choir has made its mark by performing sets from the great composers, including Felix Mendelssohn's Heilig and Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains from his masterwork "Elijah", Sergei Rachmaninov's Bogoroditse Devo, and Eric Whitacre's Go, Lovely Rose.
Members of the choir have performed in, and been recognized for excellent performances in the All-State/All-Northwest Choirs, Regional Honor Choirs and various choral festivals throughout the state. Recent alumni are pursuing musical careers at Universities across the state.
As a part of its mission, Scarlet & Gold travels regionally every few years. We hope that by learning from other musical cultures and by sharing ours we will become better citizens of the world. The soon-to-be implemented KVMB can support student travel with financial aid. For a list of our previous tours and future adventures please see our Tours and Awards page.
The Choir receives awards and accolades from numerous festivals and adjudicators throughout the Northwest. The Choir also seeks out guidance from renowned guest artists who come to Kamiakin from all over the US. For a list of awards please see our Tours and Awards page.
